Why does my bios or diagnostics program (like CPU-Z) show my memory is working at half frequency?
The bios or diagnostic program usually reports the memory bus frequency, which is half the frequency for ddr type memory. Ddr (double data rate) the data rate provides twice the memory bus frequency. So if the memory bus speed is 800mhz and you are using DDR3-1600 memory, the ram is running at the correct speed.
